Why do offers change?
A founder’s counter-offer (97) and an investor joining another’s offer (87) explain 66% of revisions.
Counter-offers and investors teaming up change most offers
An offer often changes before the founder answers it. We counted 278 revisions to offers and the reason behind each one. The founder’s counter-offer led to 97 of them. An investor joining another investor’s offer led to 87. Together that is 66% of all revisions.
Next came a competing offer from someone else on the panel (45) and an investor adding conditions such as targets to hit (29).
So an offer is a starting point. If two investors are interested, they may team up rather than compete; if you counter, expect a revised offer, not a final yes or no.

Revised offerI'm offering the 8,000,000 EGP you asked for in exchange for 51%, and after 3 years, if you hit agreed milestones, we can start lowering my stake down to 40%.

Revised offerWhat Mohamed Farouk is asking for is way too much; I think he could join us in the 10 million EGP offer for 30%.
